Hisui was abandoned as a child, and left at the doorstep of the li-hua family in republic city. She has no idea who her parents were, nor does she care. in fact, if she ever met them again she would probably hurt them.

Hisui is notorious for having a volatile personality hidden behind her doll like face. She will be quiet and shy one second, then snappy and cold-toned the next.
She is also known for being an incredible water bender- and is feared by many who have faced her. Even her adopted parents feared her, and especially feared for their daughter, Yin. When they learned of Hisui's natural talent at water bending, they sent her to live at a water tribe monastery in the north.
She returned to Republic City, when she caught wind of the anti-bending revolution. SHe met up with her sister, only to discover that she had taken up a job as a manager for the fire ferrets. Reluctantly, Hisui decided to do the same, in hopes of convincing her parents that she was civil enough to be around people. She eventually developed feelings for Mako, and constantly tries to act on these feelings, but is often crushed by her own lack of people skills, and the fact that she is shy. This is something Yin constantly teases her for.

Despite the very much normalcy of having a big crush on someone, Hisui loves to fight, and will purposefully pick fights. to her, water bending ( _{and mako}</strike>) are the only things that make her feel like an actual human.
